Feeding piranhas sardines?

I have always had goldfish and simple fish and was looking in the fish shop and saw some red red bellied piranhas. I really liked them and saw on you tube most people feeding them live goldfish. I occasionally feed my dogs (Alaskan Malamutes) sardines and was wondering if this was also fine for piranhas. Any other food suggestions will be appreciated.
