Winding a tag heuer automatic carrera watch?

i have a new carrera watch which i received as a graduation gift and know nothing about how to maintain this type of watch. when the pin is pushed in, am i supposed to wind it clockwise or counterclockwise? can we over wind the watch where it damages any mechanisms? also please provide any other useful advice. thanks in advance.
